Careem Launches Careem Boat as Heavy Rains Turn Lahore into Paris

After providing good ride-hailing transportation (Cars, bikes and Rikshaws) to the people in all major cities of Pakistan, careem now provides Careem Boat to sail in the streets of Lahore. Everyone knows that Lahore is flooded with heavy rain and social media is full of images trolling Shabaz Shareef for turning Lahore to Paris.

Lahore witnessed the heaviest rainfall in the last 38 to 40 years. Due to this heavy rainfall roads of Lahore have turned into rivers. Careem never misses the chance to make its users laugh and remain active on social media by promo codes related to the current affairs. The ride-hailing services shared an image, telling that Careem boat is on way.

The Careem app users received a message from the ride-providing company on Tuesday that read “All aboard Careem Boat! Book a Careem Boat now & anchor through the rain!”

Middle East ride-hailing app Careem started in 2012 with the aim to provide swift and comfortable services in order to give pick & drop to their customers. The company has succeeded in it’s aim to the great extent as it has 24 million registered users and now it is planning to spend up to $150 million to launch Careem food delivery business in September. Soon the company will start Careem food delivery business in Pakistan.

After acquiring regional online restaurant listing platform RoundMenu in February, it was trailing to start food delivery services.

Careem Plans to Start ‘Careem Food Delivery Business’ in Pakistan

According to one source with direct knowledge of the matter, Careem is in talks with investors to raise the finance to $150 in order to launch of Careem Food delivery business.

In March, it has been reported that Careem was in early talks to raise as much as $500 million from investors.

More interestingly, Careem Food delivery business will be launched first in Pakistan in September and then in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and other Gulf countries. So by launching Careem Food Delivery Business in Pakistan People will facilitated more.

It will compete against already existing food delivery businesses in the region. However, it is not unveiled yet that which investors Careem were in talks with.

Careem’s investors are German carmaker Daimler, China’s largest ride-haling firm DiDi Chuxing, and Saudi Arabian billionaire Prince Alwaleed bin Talal’s Kingdom Holding.

In the Middle East, there is strong demand for food delivery especially during the months of summer in the Gulf where temperatures shoots up than 50 degrees Celsius (122°F) in the summer. This service will no doubt give relief to people in Middle East.

Facebook Enhances Security Measures ahead of Pakistan Election 2018

As we all know that Pakistan Election 2018 is going to held on July 25th. Now ahead of Pakistan Election 2018, Facebook Enhances Security Measures on its platform. The social media giant has increased the number of safety and security people working on this area. Moreover, it also has dedicated teams focused on preventing abuse on the platform during elections. Furthermore, Facebook also started training of the Election Commission of Pakistan’s officials with the goal of increasing transparency and helping authorities promote civic engagement.

Samsung Galaxy S10 Fingerprint Scanner Would be Placed at a Strange Location

Samsung Galaxy S10 Fingerprint Scanner

Apple is now powered by 100% Renewable Energy

Apple has recently announced that its now powered by 100% renewable energy. All company’s technology will now facilitate through clean renewable sources. Its stores, offices, data center and co-located facilities are now going to powered by wind, solar, hydrogen and other renewable energy resources.

In 2015, apple was running its operations at 93% of clean energy, after certain efforts they have make it to 100% in 2018. Although not each and every megawatt is produced by renewable energy like wind, solar, hydrogen but they use it to currently minimize the usage of fossil fuel.

The company claims that they invest in 25 more renewable projects which will generate 626 megawatts of energy, and ensure that all of apple’s future offices runs on 100% clean energy. More projects are in line that will give 1.4 gigawatts of clean energy in 11 countries. Company has also installed solar projects in six provinces of china that collectively produce 485 megawatts.

One thing to be mentioned here, Apple’s new headquarter “Cupertino” has a 17 megawatt solar panel installed on roof and the whole place is entirely powered by renewable energy.

Since 2011, they had reduced 54% of greenhouse gas emission (CO2e) and prevent 2.1 million tons of CO2e to enter into our atmosphere. Apple is trying to fulfill its commitment of a healthier environment, and putting all its effort to make more use of renewable energy so that it effects less on our environment.

Samsung introduces Galaxy J7 duo in Pakistan

Samsung has officially launched its premium mid range phone Samsung Galaxy J7 duo. The phone comes with dual cameras rear mounted, and LED flashlight at front to capture selfies in dim light. Samsung’s new model is expected to hit market soon.

Design: Galaxy J7 duo look similar with its sibling models , it has no fingerprint sensor mounted on backside of the phone.The Company planned to go with home screen button instead of operating it through On-screen navigational button. It contains fingerprint sensor on front side below the home screen button.

Display: It features 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display with HD (720p) resolution and 2.5D curved glass. The screen to body ratio is almost 70%.

Hardware: Under the hood, it operated by Samsung’s home-bred octa-core Exynos 7870 Octa processor clocked at 1.6 GHz. It has 4 GB of RAM, and consist dual SIM option.

Software: It powered by Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box with Samsung’s custom skin TouchWiz on top.

Storage: Its internal storage capacity is 32 GB. Samsung gives an option to its users to expand storage up to 256 GB by using microSD card.

Camera: Samsung galaxy J7 duo is the first Samsung smartphone to have dual camera set up at the back. The dual cameras is 13MP + 5MP respectively, and front camera is 8 MP, both front and back cameras consist LED flashlights and f/1.9 aperture.

Battery: It has battery power of 3000 mAh with no fast charging support available.

Price: The price of this mid range phone is 30,000 pkr, and its currently available in India but soon in upcoming days it will be present in Pakistan’s market too.

Youtube Launched Localized Version for Pakistan

Youtube launched its localized version for the Pakistani users by displaying local content and Youtube Pk logo on its website. This not only happened for Pakistan but also for Sri Lanka and Nepal according to Google Asia Pacific Blog.

YouTube is the world’s largest online video sharing community with over 1 billion monthly users worldwide. It is now available in 88 countries locally, as well as in 76 global languages, including in Nepali, Urdu, and Sinhalese.

“Starting today, visitors to YouTube from each respective country will see their country-specific YouTube site by default: for instance, users from Pakistan will now see the YouTube Pakistani site in Urdu when they visit the YouTube homepage, with playlists of trending and recommended videos popular in Pakistan. ” Google Asia Pacific Blog

“Viewers can now more easily find content that is beloved in their own countries, and discover more relevant local content on the world’s largest and most diverse video sharing community. This launch will also provide more people from Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka the chance to share their own stories and videos with the rest of the world.”

“We aim to provide an even more tailored YouTube experience by launching versions that are optimised for Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. We also hope that this will pave the way for the work of local creators, personalities, and musicians to shine on the world’s largest and most vibrant video community,” said a Google spokesperson.

While there is still a ban according to Govt officials on orders of Supreme Court but in the past weeks we see that Youtube is temporarily accessible in Pakistan which is currently said to be due to a glitch but no one knows what actual situation is.
